Relax & Indulge

There’s nothing better than relaxing while the experts get to work delivering a glowy complexion. But it’s not always possible or practical to visit a spa every week.

Here’s our step-by-step how-to for recreating the best spa experience right from home.

Our step by step guide

Step 1: Prep

Before you start your at-home spa facial, it’s time to prep. Remove your makeup using a gentle cleanser, and try to remove any old fake tan too. It’ll help give you the best surface for your facial ingredients to get to work.

Remember to tie back your hair and get into a comfy outfit. To really set the scene, light your favourite candles and put on some relaxing music (our Spotify spa playlist is your go-to).

Step 2: Cleanse

Even though you’ve removed your makeup, cleansing your skin again is important. It makes sure there’s no dirt, makeup or grime left on your complexion. Pick a cleansing oil or hydrating facial cleanser and massage it into your face and neck. Rinse away, and get ready for the next step.

Step 3: Steam

A luxury spa facial usually involves steaming. This process softens your skin and opens your pores to help your chosen products work more efficiently. While you might not have a steam room at home, you can recreate the experience effortlessly. Boil the kettle and let the water cool a little. Then, carefully pour the water into a bowl. Lean over the bowl and place a towel over your head. Breathe in slowly and really relax into the process. After about 10 minutes, give your skin a break to avoid irritation.

If you prefer, you could steam in the bath instead. Add our Calmingly Floral Bath Salts for an ultra-luxurious experience.

Step 4: Exfoliate

Exfoliating is a must. It helps to buff away dead skin cells, unclogs your pores and helps other products get deeper into your skin. After steaming, apply your favourite exfoliator in small circular motions. Remember, you don’t need to use a lot of pressure for the product to work.

If you’re combining your at-home spa facial with a bath, consider looking after the rest of your body with our Shave Scrub or Nourishing Pink Clay & Argan Shampoo Bar at the same time.

Step 5: Masque

Time to relax. Apply our Sensitive Facial Masque and use the time to really chill out. This gentle product contains French pink clay, coconut milk and potato extract to give you smooth, clarified skin. It’s effortlessly entwined with lavender essential oil for a soothing experience that helps to fight inflammation and spots. With all-natural ingredients and a premium botanical formula, it provides just the right amount of luxe for your at-home spa facial.

Step 6: Tone

After removing the face mask, dab your face dry and apply a gentle toner. Choose a natural product with soothing properties, and smooth it over your skin with a reusable cotton pad. Don’t be tempted to skip this step. It helps to close your pores and prevent irritation.

Step 7: Hydrate

Hydration is essential, even if you have an oily complexion. Pick your favourite day or night cream, and apply liberally. If you like to use serums, apply them before this step.

This is a good time to look after your body too. Try our Moisturising Body Butter Bar for a deeply nourishing finish. It includes gentle sweet almond oil and hydrating rosehip oil for a silky-smooth feel.

Add the perfect finishing touch with our Hydrating Lip Serum. This botanical product includes jojoba, castor and red raspberry seed oil, as well as nourishing mango butter, to keep your lips soft, supple and luscious.
